My kids absolutely love this book and I do too!!! They were so captivated by it and it really worked on all of their different levels (4, 6, and 9 years old), which is amazing for a children’s book to be able to do!!! My 4 year old daughter wants to read it again and again! It is perfect for teachers and parents to reinforce the importance of hand washing and healthy hygiene. All teachers and families NEED a copy to help with this difficult year (2020) and moving forward to keep everyone safe and healthy! We hope they make it into a show or movie:)
This book gives parents a fun way to teach their kids about good hygiene and staying healthy. It is a cute, age-appropriate story that kids will enjoy. I like that it teaches medical concepts in a way that’s accessible to anyone. Plus, there is a glossary at the end, which is a really nice touch. Parents can learn from it along with their kids. These physician- authors obviously love teaching. I’m giving a copy of this book to all my favorite little readers!
My children ages 3,5, and 7 absolutely loved this book!!! Beautifully written story with colorful illustrations teaching us the importance of hygiene and how germs can make us sick on a level a child can understand and enjoy! My children loved the book so much they want it read over and over again:) Thank you for capturing their attention and appreciation for an important issue now more than ever. A truly wonderful and educational children’s book👍
This book is great! We got the hardcover which is really nice quality, should stand up to the multi-toddler wear and tear. The illustrations are bright and engaging, combining familiar daily scenes with fun, just-scary-enough little “monsters” (different kinds of common pathogens). The narrative is relatable, combining adventure with a memorable lesson about WHY we wash our hands. After requesting that we read the book a number of times in a row at my daughter’s request, she told me solemnly “I know in my heart I need to wash my hands, even when I don’t want to.” Mission accomplished! There is also a cute, original hand-washing song, and a great glossary with a bit more in-depth info about the science behind the story, great for slightly older kids. For my 4yo the story was enough. I love that the book is by a doctor who is also a mom, and her dad!
This is a great book! Three reasons why:
1) because it got my five year old cheering for the germs to go down the drain
2) because it emphasized soap (my son will tell me he washed his hands, but he skips soap!)
3) terrific, funny illustrations.
I am going to give a copy of this book to my son’s kindergarten teacher to read to the class.
Tomorrow, when he uses the bathroom, we will have a shared language so I can remind him to make sure the germs named Aden and Pox go down the drain, and he will smile at that and be a lot more likely to do it!
Such a great kids book! My 7 and 4 year old boys have asked to read it multiple times since we got it just over a week ago. Helps kids understand how germs spread and why it’s so important to wash hands. Plus the medical terms and glossary is perfect for the older kids! The illustrations make it all come together. This will be a regular in our reading rotation for a long while.
